A week ago my husband and I went to Copperas Cove to a really cool place called Home Base. They aren’t as large as Lowe’s or Home Depot, but they have a lot of the same thing – home improvement items. They don’t carry the same items, but their prices are so much cheaper and one can improvise with what they carry. I love going through their sales catalogs!
Last Monday I cleaned out the back of my SUV just to go over there. We loaded up forty 8 x 16″ red bricks and 200 pounds of dirt (in bags) for a goal of $27. I didn’t want to mess with them once we got home, so they stayed in the car until Thursday. There wasn’t room for anything else so I unloaded all of it. My husband had a job to do so he wasn’t able to help. I carried them to the back yard, laid them out and then leveled them. I thought my knees would shatter, my arms would fall off, and my back would break in two. It’s done though. My dogs love them and use them to walk on. No more mud coming in! It was well worth all if it!
There are so many things I want to try as far as crafts. I tried one today. It’s a collage. I’ve seen them on Pinterest and had to try it once. Of course I started with a dresser drawer. I took off all the hardware, filled the holes with wood filler, sanded it down and painted it. The “wings” are left from a previous project, and I went a little crazy decorating it. Again, other than the letters everything is repurposed. Photos will follow.
I wish all of you a safe Memorial Day. Please remember what this day means. It’s in honor of those who died to allow us to live in a free country. They and their families gave so much and we are grateful. Thank you for visiting !
